Radiation

Radiation

Radiation by Somaya Soliman organizes a dense field of color around a central point. Long strokes spread outward in every direction, giving the composition a clear radial structure. The movement is immediate, yet the surface contains smaller variations that become visible through a closer look.

Yellow, orange, and red create the warmest passages, pushing through darker blue, violet, and green. These contrasting colors keep the rays distinct while allowing them to overlap and intermingle. The center gathers the marks into a compact area before releasing them toward the edges.

The paint retains an irregular texture, with some strokes appearing broad and others narrow or broken. This variation prevents the radial pattern from becoming mechanically even. Different lengths and densities create changes in pace, giving the image the appearance of an event unfolding across the surface.

The title reinforces the outward movement already present in the composition. Light, expansion, or concentrated feeling can each provide a way into the work, although no single reading is required. Radiation is an abstraction carried by direction and color, with a strong focal point that continues to draw the eye back.
