Abstract- 2

Abstract- 2 by Somaya Soliman arranges vivid rectangular passages across a wide horizontal field. Orange, yellow, and red gather toward the center, surrounded by deep blue and turquoise. The forms can suggest buildings and reflections, although their relationships remain fluid within the abstract composition.

Bright vertical and horizontal marks intersect, creating a loose sense of structure. Darker intervals provide recesses between the warm passages, while pale touches bring sharp flashes of light. The palette gives the central area a concentrated glow against the cooler surroundings.

The lower sections echo some of the color above, inviting the impression of a reflected scene. Overlapping marks and visible texture keep the shapes from becoming fully fixed. Soliman uses differences in density and direction to create movement across the broader format.

The work offers a possible meeting of city-like form, light, and memory through color. A viewer may find a distant skyline or an illuminated place within its marks, yet the surface remains equally engaging as an arrangement of paint. Abstract- 2 holds these readings within a richly layered horizontal composition.
